The Georgia Institute of Technology’s Building Construction (BC) Program has plans to offer new building construction graduate degree programs both online and on campus. These programs are expected to begin over the next year.
The online program, which is the first of its kind to be offered online, will lead to a Master of Science in Building Construction and Integrated Facility Management. A partnership between the BC program and Georgia Tech’s Center for Distance Learning and Professional Education (DLPE) will allow students to take classes from their homes. The course curriculum was developed with contributions from professionals and covers a great deal of pertinent facilities management topics as well as many of the business aspects of the field. The online curriculum is the same as the on campus version of the program, but includes access to supplemental course information and a searchable system where course topics and lecture segments can be stored and viewed.
The BC program will also be offering a new on campus graduate track in Community Development. The curriculum will be a multidisciplinary program offered in collaboration with the Architecture, City Planning, Management and Engineering programs. Students may choose between a thesis option and a non-thesis option as they plan courses of study.
In addition to the new Community Development track, the BC program also offers graduate tracks in Integrated Facility Management and Integrated Project Delivery Systems leading to Master of Science degrees. These programs offer evening class meetings and will all be offered online over the course of the next few years. Application deadlines are April 15 for U.S. students and March 15 for international students.
