Congressional Fellow Helps Rebuild Louisiana

Stephan Butler

Stephan Butler, P.E., M.ASCE, who was selected as the 2006-07 ASCE Congressional Fellow, recently started working with Senator Mary Landreiu (D-Louisiana) on the rebuilding of New Orleans and other parts of southern Louisiana.
Butler will be working on three big issues, including a comprehensive Louisiana Coastal Restoration and Protection Plan, assisting a legislative director who is looking at rebuilding the New Orleans school system, and examining public-private partnerships as they relate to economic development.
The ASCE Congressional Fellows program, which began in July 1996, provides the opportunity for an ASCE member to work on the staff of a Congressional Committee, U.S. Senator, or member of the U.S. House of Representatives for one year.
